All Catholics are called to make a gift of self in some way to others, maybe sacrifice,  giving of time or finances, prayer and reflection. Then there are some who are called by God to be even more selfless in their gift of service to others and the Church.  They may be called to ordained ministry.   Today the word ordination is only used when referring to the sacramental act by which a man is integrated into the order of bishops, presbyters, or deacons.
