Deacon Albert “Mickey” Coppola, who serves at Good Shepherd Parish, Hopelawn, was born July 11, 1954, in Nuevitas, Cuba. He is one of two sons of Aida and the late Luis Coppola.
Deacon Coppola and his wife, Colleen, have three children, Jeanette, Melinda and Michele, and four grandchildren; Teagan, Santino, Nolan, and Rocco Albert.
Educated in West New York, he attended St. Joseph’s Boys High School. He graduated from St. Peter’s College, Jersey City, in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Management.
Deacon Coppola is currently enjoying his retirement. During his career, he has been employed by Petroleum Heat and Power, Heating Oil Partners, and Star Gas. He was also an assistant campus minister and religion teacher at Bishop Ahr High School, Edison.
After earning his certificate in ministry from the College of St Elizabeth, Morristown, in 2001, he was ordained a deacon by Bishop Vincent De Paul Breen on June 9, 2001. Deacon Coppola continued his theological studies after ordination and graduated summa cum laude with a Master of Arts degree in Theology from the College
of St Elizabeth.
Other than his assigned parish at Good Shepherd, Deacon Coppola enjoys his volunteer work bringing communion to the sick along with his wife Colleen at Raritan Bay Medical Center and celebrating Communion services at the Perth Amboy nursing home.
In his free time, he enjoys playing golf and spending time with his wife and grandchildren.
